Random Number Generator Online

Our free Random Number Generator lets you generate random numbers between any minimum and maximum value. You can generate a single random number or create a list of multiple random numbers with just a few clicks.

Use this random number picker for games, giveaways, classroom activities, contests, simulations, choosing numbers, testing and everyday situations where you need a quick random result.

Important: This calculator is designed for general-purpose randomization. JavaScript's Math.random() is pseudo-random and is not intended for cryptographic or security-sensitive applications.

How to Generate a Random Number

Using the random number generator is simple:

  1. Enter the minimum number.
  2. Enter the maximum number.
  3. Choose Random Integer or Random Decimal.
  4. Select how many numbers you want.
  5. Optionally enable unique numbers.
  6. Click Generate Random Number.

The calculator immediately displays the generated result or list of results.

Random Number Formula

For an integer between a minimum and maximum value, an inclusive random-number calculation can be represented as:

Random Integer = floor(random × (Maximum − Minimum + 1)) + Minimum

In JavaScript, Math.random() returns a pseudo-random floating-point number greater than or equal to 0 and less than 1. It can then be scaled to the required range.

Random Decimal Formula

Random Decimal = random × (Maximum − Minimum) + Minimum

Decimal generation allows values between the selected minimum and maximum with fractional digits.

Random Number Generator Examples

Example 1: Random number from 1 to 100

Set Minimum = 1 and Maximum = 100. Select Random Integer and generate your result.

Example 2: Random number from 1 to 1000

Enter 1 as the minimum and 1000 as the maximum. The generator can produce any integer within that inclusive range.

Example 3: Generate 10 random numbers

Set the quantity to 10 and choose your desired range. The calculator will generate ten random results at once.

Example 4: Random decimal number

Choose Random Decimal and enter a range such as 1 to 10. The generator will return a decimal value within that range.

Random Number Generator Between Two Numbers

A common use of a random number generator is selecting a number between two values. For example, if you need a random number between 1 and 50, enter 1 as the minimum and 50 as the maximum.

For integer mode, both endpoints are included. This means that the result can be the minimum, maximum or any whole number between them.

This makes the tool useful as a simple random number picker for games, activities, classroom exercises and number selection.

Random Number Generator Without Repeats

Enable Generate unique numbers without repeats when you want each generated integer to be different from the others in the same request.

For example, if you generate five unique random numbers from 1 to 20, the calculator will not intentionally repeat a number within that five-number result.

Unique-number generation is useful for random selections, classroom assignments, game numbers, raffle-style selections and creating randomized lists.

Random Number Generator 1 to 100

To generate a random number from 1 to 100, simply leave the minimum at 1 and maximum at 100, select Random Integer and click Generate Random Number.

The result can be any whole number from 1 through 100.

Random Number Generator 1 to 1000

For a random number between 1 and 1000, enter 1 as the minimum and 1000 as the maximum. The calculator will select an integer from that range.

You can also increase the quantity if you need a list of multiple random numbers.

What Can You Use a Random Number Generator For?

  • 🎲 Board games and number games
  • 🎯 Random choices and selections
  • 🎓 Classroom activities
  • 🏆 Contests and giveaways
  • 🧪 Simple simulations
  • 📊 Testing and demonstrations
  • 🔢 Choosing random numbers
  • 🎉 Party games and activities
  • 📝 Randomized lists
  • 💻 General programming experiments

Is This Random Number Generator Truly Random?

The browser implementation uses JavaScript's Math.random(), which produces pseudo-random floating-point values with an approximately uniform distribution over the range from 0 inclusive to 1 exclusive.

For ordinary games, selections, demonstrations and general randomization, this approach is convenient. It should not be treated as a cryptographically secure random-number source. For security-sensitive applications, the Web Crypto API is the appropriate browser technology instead.
